A video about the MIT Program:

Classes I currently teach include (and course topic):

Web Teaching: Design and Development – Strategies for teaching online. In this course students develop a course in Moodle and learn how to effectively teach and manage online classes.

Managing Instructional Development – Project Management for Instructional Designers. In this course students develop a project plan using PMBOK. Projects are client based.

Games and Simulations in Training – Design games. In this course students develop a game using Gamemaker (soon to be changed) and develop a simulation for the mobile device using Google App Inventor. Students learn how to effectively design games for corporate, government, and educational envrionments.

Computer Based Instruction – How to develop computer and mobile based instruction. In this course students develop computer based instruction in Adobe Flash and mobile websites via HTML/CSS.

Instructional Design for Educators – Strategies for implementing technology into K-12 education. In this course students develop a a myriad of projects including blogs, websites, webquests, podcasts, etc. They also learn about gaming, smartboards, google docs among other things. This is an undergraduate course and students’ first exposure to much technology.

Human Computer Interaction and Design – Designing for the monitor and mobile device. In this course students learn basic HCI principles and learn to design and develop interfaces and images with Adobe Photoshop.

How do I teach my courses?

All of the courses in my program are taught live – online and in the classroom. Thus students have the option to attend virtually via video-conference software or attend in class. Thus students can attend the MIT program fully online but in a live environment. We have found that our students prefer this method as they can feel as if they are ‘in class’ even if they are at a distance. And with the Cisco telepresence, they feel as if they are in my room even when they are home.
