Microsoft Office for Mac price increased 17%

Seems like a lot to me considering that microsoft is now competing with free software like Google Docs and Open Office. On the mobile front MS is competing with just plain apps from several companies. Article

Now for my students – please remember you get a huge discount at your school on MS products like office (among other software). So before you graduate, go to the bookstore and buy your $20 copy of Office because once you leave the price goes up a few hundred dollars:)

How burn DVD Movies on the Mac with Mountain Lion

Well those of you with Mountain Lion as the OS on your Mac have probably noticed something, iDVD is gone. Why? I can think of two reasons. 1) Apple wants people to use iTunes not buy use or make DVDs 2) DVD technology is becoming outdated and Apple is ahead of the times but then why include a DVD player on the Mac?

So for those that still want to burn DVD videos, there is a free opensource software package called burn that will do this for you:

To take a screenshot on the Mac:

Command+Shift+3: takes a screenshot of the full screen and saves it as a file on the desktop

Command+Shift+4: Allows you to select which part of the screen to capture and then saves it as a file on the desktop

Free FTP for Macs

Here is a great free ftp program for the mac that I have been using for a while now: Cyberduck (http://cyberduck.ch/). Check it out.

For those of you that do not know, FTP mean file transfer protocol. Its used as a bridge between your computer and the internet. So it allows you to takes html files from your computer and publish them onto the internet.
